Dr. Burmy is an experienced and compassionate physician who has been providing treatment and care to her patients for over 12 years. She is a graduate of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. She completed her doctor of optometry from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry in New York City and further completed her residency training specializing in Ocular Disease through SUNY and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. She has received extensive training alongside distinguished optometrists and ophthalmologists throughout her education, training, and career focusing on the cornea, contact lenses, primary and emergency eye care, refractive surgery pre and post-operative co-management, and post-operative management related to the cornea and intraocular lens surgeries. Her previous clinical experience had her establish a dry eye clinic and manage this symptomatic and chronic condition for thousands of patients. In addition, Dr. Burmy has served as a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials related to keratoconus including FDA studies on corneal collagen cross-linking.
Dr. Burmy is experienced in fitting routine contact lenses, custom specialty lenses, managing dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal conditions as well as emergency and routine eye care. As a physician committed to the highest level of practice she routinely attends continuing education courses, maintains professional memberships, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Burmy is devoted to helping patients maximize their vision and maintain excellent ocular health with an emphasis on preventative and holistic health care. She is known for her compassionate approach and eagerness to help each patient achieve their visual needs.
